The New Year is here. Every year, we have new year resolutions, great dreams, new life goals and promises to the loved ones around us. You and me are not alone.
But, what stop oneself from truly achieving these is the degree of faith one has! We may not be living the best life on planet Earth, we may not be having the top-notch luxury, we may not be having most of the good things that others have. Yes we can admire, we can envy, we want it.
And when you tell others about these, they ask you to stop dreaming and start ‘pouring cold waters’ on you. I was personally in this situation in early September-2007 – one of my secondary school classmates said I was ‘bu gu zheng ye’ (not working decently like normal people do) and asked me to re-adjust how I conducted my life. That’s when I knew we could not just listen to what our peers and people around me ‘advise’ us. If they are successful in what they do, yes we listen and we learn. If not, why are we listening to their so-called ‘advices’ just because they can’t do it and they perhaps don’t want you to surpass them?
I have one message for you, taken from the Will Smith’s movie ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’.
Will Smith said to his son in the movie “Hey, don’t ever let somebody tell you, you can’t to something. Not even me… Alright? You got a dream and you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it.”
This is just like Nike ‘Just Do It’ – the only difference is that Nike tagline is a commercial marketing tagline, whereas the ‘You want something? Go get it.’ should be a personal credo or formula of belief for yourself. No one can take away your faith, no one should be able to shift your goal from great to anything less.
On this day, I wish you a ‘Bullish’ year and many great years of abundance (and nothing less). On this day, I wish all of you a Happy New Year in this time of joy and prosperity.
